During the four days, evenly distributed between Zugspitz Arena and Karwendel Mountains, we will visit the picturesque Alpine lakes, the wild gorges and the Riss River, enjoy the 360 ° view over the Alps up to the Stubai Glaciers. We will try time-lapse, panoramic photography, shoot reflections on the lakes surface, try long exposures and night shots. Under good conditions, we will experience the unforgettable full moonset, and maybe feed wild birds.

Preliminary program of the expedition

Day 1
Expected departure at 2 pm from Prague via Pilsen and Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Here, we will check in, slightly strengthen, and depending on time and weather will go to Rissersee or directly shooting the sunset (or even the night atmosphere) to Geroldsee – perhaps the most photographed lake with typical wooden chalets.
Day 2
Early in the morning, if the day before we fail, we move from GaPa back to Geroldsee. During whole day we visit the wild gorge of Partnachklamm with its waterfalls, the picturesque Eibsee lake with many islands, and can then go by the cable car to the very top of Zugspitze with its wide views. In the evening, we will rest in GaPa, or go once again to Eibsee, this time to take pictures of the sunset.
Day 3
In the morning we move to Seefeld (approx. 45 min) where we leave the cars on the parking lot and take the cable car (optional) to ride up the height of 1750 m. From there we walk to the hut Nördlinger Hütte (2239 m, approx. 2,5 hours, ↑500 m) after a great sightseeing way. Approximately in the middle of the road, we find a favorite spot for paragliding enthusiasts, and if the weather conditions are favorable, we can try shooting a more sporty theme. Early in the afternoon, we accomodate in the hut and take a rest for the rest of the day, or get off at one of the very easily accessible peaks nearby, such as Reitherspitze (2374 m, approx. 20 min, ↑150 m, ↓150 m). Wild birds can be very often seen nearby hut, so we can try wildlife photography. And then the golden star of the whole program will come. At first the sunset and immediately after the full moon. Below us, they will light up cities, so even in the dark our adventure is not over.
Day 4
Early in the morning, close to the hut, taking pictures of sunrise, which is also worth to see. Thereafter we will go on a return journey, according to agreement between us, the same way as ascent, or the other side through the forest and pastures to the cars. We will diversify our way home by the stop at Wolfsklamm, or Grosser Ahornboden, a breathtaking valley with several thousands ancient maples. Then crossing Munich and Pilsen to Prague.

2x in a hostel or apartment in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (approx. 25 EUR/night) and 1x in the hut in a common room (28 EUR/night, for Alpenverein members 14 EUR/night). No possibility to pay by credit card in the hut, so you need to have enough cash with you. Hot shower is at an additional cost of 4 EUR.
In GaPa and Seefeld you can buy food anywhere, in the hut half board (dinner + breakfast) for about € 28 is available as well as cold food and all drinks throughout the day. Otherwise, we will eat from our own stocks. The hut has no drinking water, so we will have to buy it in bottles there!
Although this trip is unpretentious and can be handled by everyone, we must not underestimate the movement in the Alps, especially in the autumn. It is therefore good to arrange extra insurance for stay in the mountains (e.g. Alpenverein). There is a need to have enough cash and do not rely on credit cards. The workshop leader is not a certified mountain guide or international guide, it is not organized mountain tourism but only a photo workshop in alpine environment. We are not travel agency. The program of the workshop can be changed according to the conditions, weather and agreement of all participants.
